From so good, to completely useless.

I give this app three stars only as a testament for how good it used to be (as it stands now it deserves zero). I was a long time fan of the 247 website (which is still my favorite webpage for sports news), and was fortunate enough to stumble upon the app on the day of its release. I was able to get the app for free (I believe they lated started charging .99 or 1.99, which I think is pretty reasonable for this app when its running properly) and was even able to access the VIP articles! This was a great perk as these VIP articles are usually only available through paid subscription on the webpage. The writing was...spotty. Sometimes even comical! (Cant expect too much of them, they are sports writers after all.) However, the content was superb. That coupled with the simplified organization, and easy to use/learn interface quickly made this my go to app for college sporting news. Then...along came the dreaded UPDATE. Now Im prompted it create an account to access the articles. This wouldnt be an ordeal at all, except it wont let you create an account. Every time you try an error message pops up, and it wont let you access any part of app without creating an account. Effectively turning this into a worthless blue square on my home screen. A constant reminder of what used to be a favorite sports news app of mine. As soon as 247 sports can get this app back up and running I will gladly change this review to reflect that....!!P.S.!! I always thought of my access to the VIP articles as a sort of "reward" for being an early adopter of the app. Im concerned that when the current issues are resolved that I will no longer have access to this premium sporting news. If 247 sports could find some way to reinstate the VIP access that I have grown accustomed to then they will gain a loyal fan in me. Until then I will have to settle for Bleacher Report.
